Comparatives
Used to compare two things or people.
One-Syllable Adjectives: Add "-er" to the end.
tall -> taller
old -> older
Two-Syllable Adjectives Ending in -y: Change "-y" to "-i" and add "-er."
happy -> happier
easy -> easier
Two-Syllable Adjectives (not ending in -y) or Longer Adjectives: Add "more" before the adjective.
beautiful -> more beautiful
interesting -> more interesting
Example: My sister is taller than me
Superlatives
Used to compare three or more things or people
One-Syllable Adjectives: Add "-est" to the end and add "the" before the adjective.
tall -> the tallest
old -> the oldest
Two-Syllable Adjectives Ending in -y: Change "-y" to "-i" and add "-est." Add "the" before the adjective.
happy -> the happiest
easy -> the easiest
Two-Syllable Adjectives (not ending in -y) or Longer Adjectives: Add "the most" before the adjective.
beautiful -> the most beautiful
interesting -> the most interesting
