
Types of Sentences
Simple sentence
A simple sentence consists of a single independent clause, containing a subject and a predicate.
Example: She enjoys reading books.
Compund sentence
A compound sentence joins two or more independent clauses using coordinating conjunctions (FANBOYS)
Example: She studied diligently for the exam, but she still felt nervous.
Complex sentence
A complex sentence combines an independent clause with one or more dependent clauses, connected by subordinating conjunctions.
Examples of subordinate conjunctions: because, with, although, when ,as, after, etc.
Example: She felt very bad because she didn't pass the exam.
Compund- Complex sentence
A compound-complex sentence integrates multiple independent clauses and at least one dependent clause, creating a sophisticated structure that conveys complex ideas.
Example: Because he had worked hard all day, he was tired, but he still managed to finish this project.
